White Wine

"Sogno Due"

A refreshing change to Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay

Pale gold in color with a bright mineral nose of Asian pears and wet stones, this wine, made from 75 year old vines in sandy and volcanic soil, tastes of raw quince and has soft citrusy tones; 0% Oak.

The wine is made entirely with 100% Falangina grapes of the Campi Flegreidenomination, which grow on the hills of Bacoli and Baia in vineyards exposed to SW at an altitude variable between 50 and 350 m above sea level. The soils are mainlycomposed of sand but have a large percentage of volcanic ash and small lava stones.

The name of the vine comes from “phalange”, the Latin name of the post thattraditionally supports each plant. The vines live on original French rootstock as the sandy soils and the particular ecosystem is very efficient protection against phylloxera. The cultivation density is variable between 3.000 and 4.000 plants per hectare and the yield is between 6000 and 7000 kg of grapes per hectare.

The vinificationrequires a cold pre-maceration and the 6 months ageing takes place on the fermentation lees in inox steel containers. At the end of the ageing process, the wineundergoes a soft clarification and a slight tangential filtration.

It is smooth and silky on the palate with a lightly smoky incense quality finish. This is a voluptuous Southern Italian white that is delicious on it's own but even better when accompanied with fish, chicken and pasta dishes.
